FAQ’s

Q: Are there Avelore’s for other RPGs like Pathfinder or Warhammer? Expand

A: Not yet, but there will be! The entire reason I choose to create a game/edition specific journal is because I saw the possibility of creating one for all the other RPGs out there and their specific editions as well. By supporting Avelore’s now, you will help set us up to develop more journals soon.

Q: Why DnD 5E? Expand

A: I played DnD as a kid and when I returned to RPGs as an adult, the first game I got into was a 5E campaign. During the first few months of playing, I searched everywhere for something to help me organize the games massive amount of information. Not finding anything I felt was good enough, I chose to make my own. So, my choice of Game and Edition was more a matter of necessity than anything else. Learn More

Q: Do I have to keep it in order? Expand

A: No, absolutely not! The reason we chose to produce Avelore’s in a binder style rather than a bound book, like most journals, was to give players the freedom to set the journal up in whatever way works for them. Learn More

Q: “I’m not playing a spell caster”, “my character doesn’t have weapons with ammo”, “someone else keeps track of the initiative order”, “There’s more stuff in here than I need” … Expand

A: These, and many other questions/statements like them, are some of the most common issues we hear. And their answer is simple. This journal is designed for you to use whichever elements appeal to your play style, are relevant to your character, and that you as a player find helpful. In this journal/guide you will find pages dedicated to nearly every element of the game yet, not everyone will need all of it. However, I believe each section, and each page, will be useful to someone. So, by making the journal modular, you as a player can determine what parts work for you and what parts to set aside.

Q: Why would I need trackers in a journal? Expand

A: Trackers for items like Spells, Initiative, Class abilities, Hit Points etc. are a necessary part of the game. And although the little gadgets we often have at the table are fun to look at, they have a common flaw. Most, like say a dice-based spell tracker, are meant for single session use. So, if you leave a session mid-dungeon or, gods forbid, mid-battle, you’re likely to have no idea how many spell slots, or of what levels, you have available when you next return to your table. By having your trackers in your journal, you are guaranteed to know precisely where you stand no matter how long a time passes between sessions. This holds true for Initiative, Class Abilities, Hit Points and more, which is why I included them in your journal. Others may be lost but, an Avelores owner is ALWAYS on top of it! Learn More

Q: I have a pet/Demon/familiar etc. where do I put those? Expand

A: We are continuing to work diligently. New sections you’ll be able to purchase separately will be coming soon including a “Pets” section, as well as “Holds” IE: castles or other held property, and a “Support character” section for those running multiple characters at once. And new character sheets for races outside those in the PHB IE: Tabaxi, War Forged, Genazi, and more. Supporting Avelores now will allow us to bring you these updates as quickly as possible!

Q: How do I get one? Expand
